What has been in print:

Lufthansa magazine:
“The super taster. As the first German he holds the title of the world champion of all sommeliers.”

Velvet:
Mr Vino. His career is littered with gold medals. He acquired the title of world champion sommelier in 1998 in Vienna – and he looks like a man, who knows how to judge a good bottle. His dark, lively eyes sparkle with a friendly look over the top of his glasses and he positively exudes vitality and zest for living. Del Monego has learnt the business from the bottom up and he has developed an extraordinarily good nose to pick out the best wines.

Handelsblatt:
“A name from the nobility. Knowledge of wine and wineries the world over, food combinations, wine regions, mineral water, coffee, cigars – the person who can keep all this in his head and busy himself with it at table, will woo the jury and hopefully coax the answer from the captivated guest, which Giocchino Rossini actually gave to the question - what are the best sounds in the world: “when the roast crackles in the pan and a wine bottle is opened”.

Why the wine has cork ...

Today wine is a cult drink and a drink of culture for more and more people, a pleasure, which could be enhanced, if you knew a little more than usual about what you are drinking. Markus Del Monego tells a few short, and a few long stories about wine, stories that are not mentioned in the great literary works about wine. He heard them during his travels in the wine regions of the old and new world. Some of them were told with a wink of the eye. Why did Madame Pompadour only become a real woman through Champagne? Why did the widow Veuve Cliquot invent the riddling device and why is Riesling better than viagra? In addtion to this there are interesting as well as serious details about wine and all the things to do with wine, but all this is presented in an easily digestible way. These anecdotes are entertaining, funny, thoughtful and imaginative and, without a doubt, will stimulate many a lively discussion - accompanied by a glass of wine, of course.
